welcome to the homebrew blog.

this will help keep the farming and all that separate as we are expanding our garden from last season to a small scale farm this season, and hopefully be able to supplement some of our income.
above is a photo of toasted malt from the last IPA i made. (batch #4) figure it would be about time to start keeping better track of the batches made

===================================================================

i have been using QBrew on the computer to calculate IBUs, alc. content etc.. but would also like to keep track of recipes and methods/techniques.

these batch recipes are incomplete at the moment, but i just wanted to see what it looked like.
updates/ information transfer from the farm blog to come soon. we are busy bees around here this time of year, especially this year. currently in the process of putting up new siding on the wall of the house in the garden, and fixing up the porch out back, plus the whole rain catchment /drip system...needless to say, our back burners are overloaded.

batch #1 was supposed to be an IPA. just had a strong cidery taste from the dextrose used. did give it strength in alc. though.

lb or two of whole malt steeped. boiled 2 oz chinook and 2 0z chinook for finish (10 min)
homegrown hops
6 lbs crystal malt
irish moss (for clarity, also so far used in all batches)
wyeast rngwld i think.

batch #2
mystery malt (expired but a freebie nonetheless ) stout or porter
chinook hops for finish
cascade?
dry yeast

batch #3
american ale yeast
2 oz magnum hops for boil (30 min)
2 oz chinook hops for finish

batch #4
american ale yeast

2 oz magnum hops for boil (40 min)
2 oz chinook hops for finish
